This Privacy Policy explains how Varie.AI LLC ("Varie AI", "we", "us") handles personal data in connection with the Screentack application and the screentack.com website (the "Service"). We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the product.

The short version

  • The Screentack app runs on your device. Your screenshots, recordings, and captured screen content are processed and stored locally on your Mac. We do not receive, upload, or store that content.
  • The website collects limited data to operate the waitlist, understand usage, and process purchases — described below.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

1. The Screentack desktop app

Screentack captures and processes screen content on-device. Screenshots, recordings, annotations, OCR text, and session files are saved locally on your Mac (by default under your home folder) and are not transmitted to us.

To verify a purchase, the app communicates with Lemon Squeezy to validate your license key. This involves your license key and basic request information; it does not include your captured content.

2. The website

When you use screentack.com, we and our processors may collect:

  • Email address — if you join the waitlist or contact us. We use Resend to store contacts and send you product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Usage and analytics data — we use PostHog for product analytics, which may include pages viewed, clicks, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser information, and session recordings of your interactions with the website (used to improve it). This is collected via cookies and similar technologies.
  • Purchase information — payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects the billing details needed to complete your purchase and remit taxes. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

3. How we use data

We use personal data to: operate and secure the Service; respond to your requests; send product and release updates you signed up for; process purchases and provide support; and analyze and improve the website.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses cookies and local storage for analytics and basic functionality (for example, PostHog). You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect site functionality.

5. Sharing and processors

We share personal data only with service providers that process it on our behalf, including: Lemon Squeezy (payments / Merchant of Record), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics), and Vercel (website hosting). Each processes data under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect our rights. We do not sell personal data.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Waitlist contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Analytics data is retained per our analytics provider's settings.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of certain uses. To exercise these rights, email support@screentack.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.

8. International transfers

We and our processors may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will reflect changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
